The CRL TVS-3005 Second Audio Program (SAP) generator is an advanced concept in aural subcarrier generator design. The unit's output is at 78.67kHz (5 Fh) and is locked to the station's horizontal sync reference. The TVS-3005 can be used for normal dbx encoded SAP applications. The unit is designed for years of trouble free service and is easy to set up and use.
Superb Stability and Modulation Performance
The modulator section of the TVS-3005 is a ultra-linear VCO controlled by an advanced phase-lock-loop circuit. A wide bandwidth current to frequency converter is used for subcarrier generation. The subcarrier frequency is locked to the station Fh reference and remains locked under all program conditions.
Audio Input Filtering
The TVS-3005 features a multi-section audio low-pass filter, plus a high Q notch at Fh (15.734 kHz) prior to dbx encoding. The Fh notch filter ensures complete removal of any audio energy near the Fh frequency.
Genuine dbx Encoder Card
The TVS-3005 uses a genuine dbx encoder card. The use of this system ensures the best match with SAP decoders found in all modern stereo TV receivers. This board is tested to exacting standards to meet all EIA and FCC OST-60 standards for multichannel program transmission. The dbx encoding may be bypassed for testing purposes or non-public SAP operation.
Post dbx Audio Filtering
After the dbx encoding, a seventh order elliptic audio low pass filter is used. This filter removes all program material and dbx compressor noise above 10kHz prior to the modulator section. Attenuation is greater than 40dB at Fh.
Subcarrier Bandpass Filter and Output
A multi-section active subcarrier bandpass filter is used in the TVS-3005 to eliminate crosstalk problems between subcarriers. The TVS-3005 is designed to provide maximum crosstalk protection for the stereo L-R and PRO channels. A notch filter at the PRO channel frequency (102.271 kHz / 6.5 Fh) is also part of the band-pass filter. The TVS-3005 has a 75 ohm output impedance and can drive up to 1000 feet of properly terminated coaxial cable.
PRO Channel Input
To make it easy to interconnect units, the TVS-3005 has a PRO channel input BNC connector. The PRO channel input is resistively summed to the output of the TVS-3005.
Remote Control and Subcarrier Muting
The TVS-3005 features a unique dual-polarity remote control system. This optp-isolator driven system accepts remote control signals and provides remote mode indications. There are three modes of operation: ON, OFF and AUTO. The AUTO mode removes the subcarrier output when no program material is fed to the unit. The muting delay time and level is adjustable.
