Amigo Timer

Are you tired of having to manually switch equipment? Do contact closures activate what you need to control? Then the Amigo Timer from CRL Systems is your answer. This advanced microprocessor-based system can store and sequence up to 255 events. Each event can control up to eight contact closures. Program your events for each day of the week, for each different month of the year. Advanced software makes the unit easy to use ‚ just a few keystrokes will program it.

Microprocessor controlled. The essential components of the Amigo Timer are a MC68HC811E2 microprocessor and a temperature-compensated crystal oscillator timebase. The clock circuitry offers minimal drift with time and temperature ‚ typical accuracy is 1 ppm or 3 seconds per month. For even better accuracy, connect the Amigo Timer's internal clock to a remote control system or satellite receiver with an hourly clock synchronizing feature.

To ensure uninterrupted operation of the clock during power failure, the unit has a built-in long-life lithium battery. You can check the condition of the battery through a multimeter function display.

Eight outputs. The Amigo Timer provides eight output and two ground connections on its the rear panel. All outputs are opto-isolated using a switch-to-ground method. Each output's contact closure duration can be individually set for 0.5 second, 1.0 second or latched. This versatility is invaluable when some of your equipment requires momentary contact closure while other equipment requires latched closures.

Parallel or Binary. There are two programmable output modes available, parallel or binary encoded. Parallel operation lets you select any combination of up to eight outputs to switch on any event (for example, outputs 1, 4, and 7). Binary operation allows the contact closures to form an eight-bit binary word that allows up to 255 external devices to be controlled. In this mode of operation, it is only possible to turn on one device at a time.

Programming is a snap. Operate and program the Amigo Timer through a simple-to-use keypad. A backlit LCD display lets you operate the unit under a wide variety of lighting conditions. Specialized software allows the unit to be easily programmed from the front keypad. Programmed events are stored in the microprocessor in non-volatile EEPROM. To operate the unit, select a function from the main menu display and press the enter key. All sub-menu screens are in a circular format allowing quick access to any menu.

Programmable to the second. The starting time of an event can be programmed to the second. Your events will be perfectly sequenced without overlaps or dead time.

The Amigo Timer will control each month's weekly sequences of events for a year. You can program your events for each day of the week, for each different month of the year. The Amigo Timer is programmed to recognize daylight savings time if desired, and has automatic compensation for leap years. This versatility is ideal for AM transmitter control, outdoor lighting or any application where the time of the event changes every month.

If your audio processor doesn't have a real-time clock but can be remote-controlled via contact closures (like the Orban 2200, 6200, and 9200), then the Amigo Timer is an ideal companion.

Terminal software is provided. You can back up all of your programmed events to a computer disk file. The backup file can be loaded back into the timer without losing a single event.

Many more applications than those listed here are possible. The Timer makes it easy to automate countless types of machines at preset times. If you have any questions about interfacing your Amigo Timer or different applications, please contact us.
