Audio Codec

The Opticodec line consists of two professional audio codecs aimed at those working in the field of radio and television broadcast, voice, music, recording and production studios, advertising agencies, broadcast news information, audio on demand, and any broadcasting over the Internet. European broadcasters have trusted the European versions for years, thanks to their precision German engineering, excellent sound, and superb reliability. Now Orban has partnered with Dialog4 to make American versions of these proven products, manufactured to the highest quality standards in ISO9000/9001 certified facilities.

Both codecs are ISO/MPEG Layer II and Layer III compliant and include G.722 7 kHz and G.711 telephone modes. In addition to working with one to three ISDN lines (depending on the audio quality desired), these codecs are also TCP/IP and UDP addressable for use over any LAN, WAN, Intranet, or the Internet. The ultra-compact portable model is an all-in-one workstation that can be battery or AC-powered. It includes a digital audio recorder and digital audio editor for ISO/MPEG Layer II, and it transmits ISO/MPEG Layer III over ISDN.

Opticodecs are 100% compatible with the Telos Zephyr and CCS CDQ Prima at 64kbps mono and 128kbps stereo, and can automatically detect and adapt to the brand of codec to which they are connected. Thanks to easy field upgradeability through Internet firmware downloads, these proven codecs are easy to keep upgraded to state-of-the-art standards.
