Analog Audio Inputs: Custom time-aligned stereo 18-bit, 64X oversampled delta sigma ADCs with linear phase anti-aliasing filters, dithered by narrowband F/2 noise source. Switchable to match all standard studio levels.
Analog Audio Outputs: 16-bit, time-aligned 8x oversampled DACs. Active differentially balanced. Output level is +20dBu at full level.
Digital I/O (optional)
Format: Signals meet ANSI S.40 (1992) and IEC 958 (1993).
Inputs: Switchable AES/EBU or S/PDIF; automatic sample rate conversion on input to 32kHz, 44.1kHz (±4%); automatic recognition of Pro and Consumer format; on-board clock recovery for jitter rejection. Automatic SCMS code removal.
Outputs: Simultaneous AES/EBU and S/PDIF, Pro or Consumer format. S/R changeable at any time to 32kHz, 44.1kHz or 48kHz. Sample rate output stable & constant during scrub and vari-speed.
Synchronization: Switchable to digital input, external word clock, NTSC or PAL video. Audio quality is maintained even if sync does not equal input. Automatic fallback to internal high-precision crystal.
Word Clock Output: Phase-aligned to output sample rate.
Internal Audio
Format: 16-bit linear PCM; no data compression used during processing or storage. 24-bit, real-time internal effects processing. 32-bit internal mixing. Orban DSP engine with dedicated busses for audio I/O and high speed memory access. DSP Engine interfaces directly to Orban RAM Control Modules over proprietary high speed bus. Each module provides its own fast access DMA control circuit.
Audio RAM Capacity: Up to 512MB (140 minutes at 32kHz) on Orban RAM control modules.
System Hardware
Platform: PC platform provides file management screen, updates and access to network I/O only. 15" SVGA color monitor standard, 17" optional.
Storage: 8GB SCSI hard disk drive standard. 3 1/2" floppy drive for software updates. Optional 4mm data DAT drive for backups. Optional Iomega JAZ removable hard drive uses 2GB Jaz cartridges.
Networking: Optional 10Base-T or 100Base-TX UTP Ethernet to Audicy server, client/peer architecture. Supports networking Audicy to Microsoft (Win 95/98 or NT using NetBEUI or TCP/IP) and Novell Netware (3.11, 4.xx, 5.xx) servers. Requires optional Audicy Server software, as well as network software/hardware package for Audicy workstation.
Other Control: Remote control via RS-232, 9600 bps. VX-class Audicys can chase and lock to SMPTE Timecode, and fully control external VTR via Sony RS-422 ("P-2") Protocols.
