Orban Optimod-FM 8500 is a Hit with The Edge 94.1 FM

The following is a testimonial Orban received from Midwest Communications in Lansing, MI:
We received our brand new 8500 a week ago. I put it on the air on our alternative rock station, 94.1 THE EDGE.

I am very happy with the way the station sounds. We were using a pair of Gentner Prisms and an 8100A with the Gentner RCF-1B. The 8100A was one of the more unusual ones with the LED bargraphs instead of vertical meters. The Prisms and 8100A are being moved to an FM translator for 1590 AM WTVB in Coldwater, Michigan.

Orban Flagship Processor Optimod-FM 8600 Now Shipping

Orban has announced that it is now shipping its new flagship FM processor, Optimod-FM 8600. The product of two years of research by Bob Orban and the Orban engineering team, the 8600's dramatically improved peak limiter technology decreases distortion while increasing transient punch and high frequency power handling capacity. Compared to the FM-channel peak limiter in Optimod-FM 8500, the new peak limiter typically provides 2.5 to 3 dB more power at high frequencies, which minimizes audible HF loss caused by pre-emphasis limiting. Drums and percussion cut through the mix. Vocals are present and up-front. Speech is very clean. Highs are silky and airy. "Problem material" that used to cause audible distortion is handled cleanly.

The company went public in 1983, as an over-the-counter market bulletin board stock under the symbol CRLI. The company purchased Orban from Harman International Industries in 2000, and operated as a reporting company to NASDEQ until January 2009. CRLI ceased operations March 5th, 2009.

Orban Optimod 8585 User Report

Vermont Public Television is the public broadcaster and PBS outlet for Vermont and bordering regions of New Hampshire, Massachusetts, New York, and Quebec.

As part of a project to rebuild our master control facility to be all HD, we had to deal with loudness issues of various media that we play to air. These can range from HD shows with a full 5.1 surround mix to newly ingested older programs being prepared for re-air. VPT strives to maintain the highest technical standards over the quality of our audio through the use of modern tools such as Dolby's LM-100 to measure and set dialog levels. Occasionally, things do slip by and some programming in which the loudness was significantly different than the rest of the show gets out over the air.

Orban Introduces Optimod-AM 9300

Orban's all-digital 9300 Optimod-AM audio processor is the direct successor to Orban's industry-standard Optimod-AM 9200. Thousands of these processors are on the air all over the world. They have proven that the "Optimod sound" attracts and keeps an audience even in the most competitive commercial environment. The 9300 retains much of the 9200's sonic texture while adding more versatile equalization and a parametric lowpass filter, which allows users to trade off filter ringing against frequency response flatness. This is particularly important now that more stations are reducing audio bandwidth either voluntarily or because their HD-AM digital transmissions require it. In addition, the 9300 features a newly designed, ultra-smooth dual-band AGC with window gating.
