Orban Introduces Optimod-AM 9300

Tempe, AZ, April 11th, 2007 — Circuit Research Labs, Inc. (OTCBB: CRLI.OB), parent company of Orban/CRL, a worldwide leader in audio processing for AM, FM, TV, and Internet broadcasting, today introduced the new Orban Optimod-AM 9300 monophonic audio processor for AM radio stations. The Optimod-AM 9300 will be on display at the National Association of Broadcasters Convention in Las Vegas April 16th-19th, 2007.
Orban's all-digital 9300 Optimod-AM audio processor is the direct successor to Orban's industry-standard Optimod-AM 9200. Thousands of these processors are on the air all over the world. They have proven that the "Optimod sound" attracts and keeps an audience even in the most competitive commercial environment. The 9300 retains much of the 9200's sonic texture while adding more versatile equalization and a parametric lowpass filter, which allows users to trade off filter ringing against frequency response flatness. This is particularly important now that more stations are reducing audio bandwidth either voluntarily or because their HD-AM digital transmissions require it. In addition, the 9300 features a newly designed, ultra-smooth dual-band AGC with window gating.
Orban/CRL President, Chairman, and CEO Jay Brentlinger stated, "We recognized that many AM broadcasters need an audio processor with the features and pricing of our new Optimod-AM 9300. We are very pleased with the performance of this newest processor in our AM radio product line."
The 9300 is very user-friendly. Its Quick Setup wizard walks broadcasters through the setup process. One-knob LESS-MORE control allows the user to customize the 9300's comprehensive factory presets easily. Audio processing experts will appreciate the new Advanced Control parameters (accessible from 9300 PC Remote software) that allows the user to customize the 9300's sound to exact requirements.
The 9300 features a five-band limiter with distortion-canceling clippers. Multiband limiting and clipping are the most powerful techniques to achieve a consistently loud yet very clean sound on the air. The audio is divided into five bands, then separately compressed and limited. Five-band limiting can operate far more quickly than a wide-band compressor without causing audible side effects.
The 9300 is a monophonic processor. For those needing stereo processing and/or digital radio/netcast processing, or if they simply want most Orban's most advanced algorithms for AM analog transmission processing, the state-of-the-art Optimod-AM 9400 is the ideal choice.
